Than Celeron 440
Intel's soon to launch Celeron E3400, a CPU with 1MB cache, 2.60GHz core clock and an 800MHz FSB can end up more than two times faster when compared to the old Celeron 440 single-core 2.0GHz CPU with 512kB cache. Celeron E3400 is the latest addition to the new dual-core Wolfdale 45nm-based generation of Celerons. Celeron 440 is a single core CPU based on Conroe-L, 65nm.
In an Intel controlled Web Video conversion test, that includes tests with DivX 6.7 and VirtualDub 1.7.2, the new Celeron E3400 finishes the same task some 115 percent faster than the old Celeron 440.
It gets even better as in Itunes 8.2 Audio MP3 encoding E3400 Celeron finishes the test 143 percent faster when compared with Celeron 440. In Web photo resizing test using Windows Live Photo gallery, the new Celeron E3400 can do the task some 40 percent faster.
In this particular test, you can clearly see that the new dual-core Celeron pays of and the scary part is that once it launches on January 17th, Celeron E3400 will cost only $9 more than the $44 Celeron 440.
